Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed
Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
Meet the Rockville Team Behind Level Two Chimney Rockville
We’re a crew of eight, based here in Rockville, running chimney sweeps, repairs, and rebuilds across Montgomery County. What unites us is simple: every one of us has stood in a Rockville living room showing a homeowner a photograph of what’s actually inside their flue. We’ve inspected and cleaned more than 38,000 chimneys since 2009, and every single one had a written price before work started and a photo record when it was done. That’s Clause 1 and Clause 4 of the Haven Standard, and it’s not negotiable here. We’re not a franchise. We’re independently owned and operated, and these are the people who’ll show up at your door.
Our People
Mike D. - Lead Technician, Chimney Sweep & Repair
Mike has been sweeping chimneys in Maryland for 14 years, the last seven with us. He holds a CSIA certification and is the technician we send when a homeowner has been told by another company they need a full liner replacement and wants a straight answer. He’s swept thousands of flues from Bethesda to Gaithersburg, and he can tell a Class II creosote from a Class III glazed deposit within seconds of putting eyes on it. Mike keeps a small notebook in his truck with sketches of unusual chimney configurations he’s encountered, some of them dating back to his first year. He lives in Rockville and complains about Montgomery County parking ordinances more than anyone else on the crew.
Derrick T. - Senior Installer, Liners & Rebuilds
Derrick runs our liner installation and full rebuild work, and he’s the reason we stock DuraFlex, HeatShield, and Olympia Chimney materials instead of whatever’s cheapest at the supply house. He’s been installing stainless flue liners for over a decade and has rebuilt smoke chambers in homes across Rockville, Silver Spring, and Potomac. Derrick is meticulous about clearance to combustibles, and he measures twice before cutting once, every time. Outside of work he builds furniture, which means his joinery on chase tops and chimney crickets is cleaner than most. He’s the first to say a chimney can safely wait another year, which is exactly the kind of honesty we hire for.
Natalie R. - Service Coordinator, Rockville Office
Natalie is the voice on the phone when you call (571) 376-7052. She has been with Level Two Chimney Rockville for six years and knows the Rockville inspection schedule, permitting quirks, and HOA chimney rules well enough to tell you what to expect before we even arrive. She’s the one who sends the text when your technician is on the way and makes sure the written quote, written scope, and written warranty are emailed to you before anyone starts work. Natalie grew up in Rockville and went to Richard Montgomery High School. She will not upsell you anything, because our whole pricing model is built on the written price being the price, before work begins.
Sam C. - Apprentice Technician
Sam started with us in 2023 after two years of residential construction work. He’s training under Mike and Derrick on everything from creosote classification to crown repair, and he does the roof-access work with proper fall protection on every steep-pitch roof. Sam carries a mirror-on-a-stick in his tool bag at all times, an old-school habit Mike taught him for checking smoke chamber shoulders. He grew up in the area and is usually the one holding the camera during Level 2 NFPA 211 inspections, taking the photo record that Clause 4 requires on every job. Sam’s still earning his stripes, but he’s already learned to say the five words we value most: “I don’t know, let me check.”
One Standard, Every Job

The Haven Standard exists so that a homeowner in Rockville gets the same written price, the same photo documentation, and the same Done Right Promise as every other home we serve. Mike runs a sweep with the same checklist Derrick uses on a liner install, and Natalie won’t schedule a job without an arrival text going out first. Every visit includes a camera-scan inspection and documented photo record, because if it’s not in writing or on camera, it didn’t happen. We source our materials through Haven’s buying network: DuraFlex, HeatShield, Gelco, Olympia Chimney, Famco, and Copperfield. The point isn’t the brands. It’s the price we can offer for them. Background-checked, uniformed technicians, a named tech on every job, and a live person on the phone around the clock: that’s the standard, on every single chimney, from the first sweep to a full rebuild. If it’s not done right, we make it right. That’s the 365-Day Done Right Promise, and it applies to every job this crew touches.
